I have had an account with Citibank for a few years.
I never really use it. I can not remember why I opened it. Must have been a special introductory offer of some sort.
Anyway, as the news concerning the bank is not the best, I decided to transfer what little I have in the account out. No chance. Some non-specific problem is preventing the transfer from taking place.
The site advises to , “try again in an hour,” yeah right! At least it is only a few hundred quid tied up.
I presume the UK end of the bank is covered by UK banking insurance.

Citibank’s scum. About 7 years ago they froze the money of their Argentinian clients because the Argentinian government was in debt. Get your money out of there. Boycott them. They’re completely immoral.

Were you ever able to get your money out? I have a credit card with Citibank and they raised the interest rate to around 26%. I don’t have a balance on them, and I have no intention to, but I’m really glad I didn’t have one when they did that. I’m considering closing the account just because of that outrageous interest rate. I called them about it and they said there was nothing they could do about the rate.

I have transferred the money out and closed the account, but I had to do it over the phone in the end, the web site kept giving me an error.

The money has now arrived in my clearing account. So all’s well that ends well.
