It’s been very cold here all week.

I recorded a low of -5 DegC, elsewhere in southern England temperatures as low as -12 DegC were recorded. That may not be very cold compared to some places in the world, but when you get unusually low temperatures, no one is prepared. No one has appropriate clothing (unless they ski) and insulation and heating is not enough to keep homes warm.
